Learning through adventure and experience

Our Vision

To develop confident, caring and responsible individuals to achieve their full potential.

Our Mission

We are proud to be an inclusive school where all members of the school community work together to provide a rich learning environment which challenges, inspires and motivates all children.

Our Core Goals

  • To strive for the highest possible standards of achievement.
  • To prepare the children to become responsible, productive, active members of society.
  • To provide a safe and happy environment where all can achieve.

Our Values

  • Respect
  • Tolerance
  • Courage
  • Responsibility

The children collect house points through their achievements in school.  This could include, but is not limited to:

  • Star of the Week
  • Sports Star of the Week
  • Dojo Leader top 3
  • Head Teacher's Award
  • TT Rock Star Star of the week

We add our tokens into our house point counter when we receive them in our Celebration Assemblies.

Each house competes to collect the most House Points per term.  The winning house will all receive a 'treat' the following term - this is chosen by the whole house group with Mrs Maxwell and Mrs Brown.  Skiddaw won for Autumn 2022 and went to Clip 'n' Climb in Maryport, as did Catbells in Spring 2023 and Blencathra in Summer 2023!

The scores reset to zero for the next term, giving everyone the chance to win a treat!

Each house is also represented by one of the four Thomlinson Junior School values; Respect, Tolerance, Courage and Responsibility.  The logo designs include images that the children felt best represented these values.

We often give out special awards to children who have particularly demonstrated one of these values, either in or outside of school.
